Dominik Graf, vielfach ausgezeichneter Regisseur und Autor, ist einer der kreativsten und kompromisslosesten Filmemacher Deutschlands. Er hat in den letzten vier Jahrzehnten mit großen Stars wie Götz George, Matthias Brandt oder Martina Gedeck, aber auch mit einer Reihe junger Talente auf dem Weg zu großem Ruhm zusammengearbeitet, und oft das Beste aus ihnen herausgeholt. Mit seinem Werk schafft er es immer wieder, die Grenzen zwischen Realität und Fiktion auszuloten. Seine Arbeit wurde u. a. mit dem Grimme-Preis und dem Bayerischen Filmpreis gewürdigt. In seinem Buch „Sein oder Spielen“ legt er nun die Summe seiner Erfahrungen als Regisseur und Filmbegeisterter vor und benennt seine künstlerischen Einflüsse. Er reflektiert die Kunst des Schauspiels und die vielschichtige Beziehung zwischen Schauspielern und ihren Rollen. Temporeiche Künstlererinnerung und präziser Werkstattbericht in einem, erzählt Graf in «Sein oder Spielen» auf unnachahmliche Weise eine bis heute unabgeschlossene Erziehung des Herzens im und mit dem Film. Sein Buch ist nicht zuletzt eine Huldigung aller Schauspielerinnen und Schauspieler, mit denen er zusammengearbeitet hat. Die Moderation des Gesprächs übernimmt Kathrin Felle.
